Sipesville Volunteer Fire Company
215 Quemahoning Hill Rd Somerset, PA 15501
After gaining national recognition in 2002 during the successful rescue of nine miners trapped in the Quecreek Mine, the fire department is enhancing its rescue capabilities by adding a new heavy rescue apparatus to its fleet, focusing on auto accidents and technical rescue incidents. Operating in a rural area with diverse terrain including farmland and forested wilderness, they often respond to incidents like farm accidents, lost persons in state parks, or injured hikers. They aim to improve efficiency and safety by using MedShield cases for medical equipment, ensuring it remains protected from the elements and other adverse weather conditions during emergency rescues.
Piketon Seal Township Volunteer FD
601 E Main Street, Piketon, Ohio 45661
This Ohio fire department is among the least financially resourced in the state, currently depending on outsourced EMS services instead of locally controlled operations. They are actively pursuing the establishment of their own first response truck with integrated EMS care, supported by two qualified members. The department views the acquisition of MedShield cases as crucial to advancing their capabilities. Recently, they have also procured an AED to further enhance their emergency response readiness.
